Illinois Mobile Proxies on Dedicated Hardware in the Chicago Metro

When you buy an Illinois line from ProxyMobile you are renting a specific piece of hardware, not a seat in a pool. The device is a USB modem, a 4G/5G router or a real Android phone, it sits in our Chicago metro rack, and it holds one AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon SIM on a consumer plan. Nobody else routes through it while it is yours. Because the carrier hands that device an address from its northern Illinois pool, the traffic you send looks like a phone on the Kennedy Expressway to any service that checks. This page explains what the hardware is, how the Illinois location resolves, and which device type suits which job.

Three kinds of device, one SIM in each

USB modems are the workhorse. They are cheap to run, they reattach to the carrier quickly on rotation, and they are the right pick for account work and verification checks. Cellular routers are what we use for lines that need to stay up for weeks with a stable address, such as long-running monitors. Real Android phones are the third option; the SIM sits in an actual handset, which is what some apps expect to see when they inspect the connection. Whatever the device, the rule is the same across our Chicago rack: one device, one SIM, one customer, and we swap hardware, not customers, when something fails.

This matters for Illinois specifically because the carrier pool behind the device is regional. A rotating residential service can hand you an address that geolocates to Illinois one minute and Ohio the next. A dedicated modem in Chicago cannot do that: every address it receives comes from the same carrier gateway serving the same part of the state, so the location story stays consistent for as long as you hold the line, whether you rotate once a week or many times an hour.

Central Time, three carriers, one metro

Illinois runs on Central Time, and our Chicago rack is the only place in the state where we have equipment. We say that plainly because some providers list every city in Illinois as if they had modems there. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all serve the metro and we keep lines on each. Carrier geolocation resolves to the metro or state rather than a street, so a Chicago line reads as Illinois to almost every service, whether your actual target is Springfield, Peoria, Champaign or the northwest suburbs. Other Illinois cities are places customers target, not places we have hardware.

Matching the device to the Illinois job

Managing Facebook pages and marketplace listings for suburban businesses in Naperville or Schaumburg is USB modem work: sticky session, one line per client group, rotate only when you move to the next client. Watching Chicago-area listings on real estate portals or tracking Jewel-Osco and Mariano's grocery pricing over a month is router work, because you want an address that simply stays put. Researching how delivery and ride apps price a trip from O'Hare or a dinner order in Wicker Park is phone work, since those apps are built for handsets and behave best when the connection comes from one. Your dashboard lets you choose the device class when you order.

Sessions, rotation, speed and the daily allowance

Every ProxyMobile line gives you HTTP(S) and SOCKS5 endpoints, a rotation link you can call without limit, and sticky sessions that hold the current Chicago address until you rotate. Our 4G devices run at 20-45 Mbps and 5G devices at 50+ Mbps. Each line includes 15 GB of data per day, which covers a heavy day of social management or verification work comfortably; scraping at scale is a different product and we will say so if you ask. Rotation pulls another address from the carrier's finite regional pool, so repeats over time are expected. Addresses are shared with many real phones through carrier-grade NAT, which is why platforms treat them gently.

Next steps for your ProxyMobile proxy

Head to the plans on the ProxyMobile homepage, pick Chicago as the location and choose the device class and carrier that fit the job above. Lines start from $2 for two hours or $5/day and appear in your dashboard once provisioned. If Illinois is one of several states you cover, the locations page lists every metro we run so you can keep them under one account, and the Chicago mobile proxies page has metro notes. For device-specific questions, including whether a router or a phone is the better fit for your workload, write to support@proxymobile.net. Platform rules still apply on every device; the hardware changes the network path, not your permissions.

Illinois proxy questions

Where in Illinois is the hardware?

Chicago metro only. Our modems, routers and phones for Illinois all sit in one rack in the Chicago area. We do not operate in any other Illinois city, and a line will never geolocate to a downstate town because the carrier pool that feeds the device is regional.

Does the address resolve to Illinois?

Yes. The address comes from a carrier gateway serving northern Illinois, and geolocation databases map that gateway to Chicago or to Illinois. It will not resolve to a specific suburb or street, because carrier addresses are not that precise, but the state and metro are what services actually check.

Can I choose a suburb or another city in Illinois?

No. Chicago is our single Illinois location and the carrier assigns addresses from a regional pool, so there is no selection below the metro level. If your target is Aurora, Joliet or Rockford, a Chicago line still reads as Illinois, which is as specific as any real phone in that town would be.

Sticky or rotating for hardware-based Illinois lines?

Hold sticky for anything logged in, which is most account work on a USB modem or phone. Use rotation between discrete checks, such as sampling local search results or ad placements, so each sample gets a fresh Chicago address. Routers used for long monitors usually stay sticky for the whole run.

Which carriers do you stock in Chicago?

AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, on real consumer plans. You choose the carrier per line when ordering, and the choice does not change the Illinois geolocation. All three are available on the 4G tier and on 5G devices; pick by the carrier your accounts already know or spread lines across all three.
